Our family outing on the Wekiva River April 17, 2024

We love Family Outings, they are always so much fun and today we had the pleasure of having 2 families with us. We headed up the Wekiva with the North wind at our backs and floated over the Eel Grass without much effort. The Limpkins were the bird of the day, we had 5 sightings in total. There were Osprey, Red-tailed Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks and Swallow-tailed Kites flying around and we even caught a glimpse of a Bald Eagle. There are still a few Kingfishers down here and the Great Blue and Little Blue Herons were out fishing too. A couple of Moorhens came waddling by and then we got to see the baby Gators. I mean to tell you, these guys were brand new to this world, still wearing their yellow camo colors. The sun came out for a short time but the clouds overhead kept us nice and cool. It was a great day to be on the river.
