Rock Springs Run in all her glory March 26, 2014

Clear and cool both the sky and the water, Rock Springs Run is just beautiful any time of year. Spring time is especially colorful with it's shades of green. The Kites are back from South America, what a spectacular sight they are. We saw a Swallow-tailed Kite gliding above the tree tops then realized it was having a dog fight with a Red-shouldered Hawk. We saw lots of Common and River Cooter Turtles and the big Alligator sunning on his thrown. There were several smaller Gators about too. We did get to hear the Gator mating call...that bellowing is something you'll never forget. It's exciting, it's like it rattles the water. Even though they are way back in the swamps and we know that, it sends a chill up your spine ;-). We had an encounter with a Great Blue Heron and an Osprey with a fish. The Spatterdock Lilies are blooming yellow and the Airplants on the big Oak Tree are lit up in pink. It was a great day to be on the river!
