What a beautiful day to be on the Wekiva River
Almost all of the vegetation was summertime green on the Wekiva River this morning. Even the river itself was flat and mirrored the images of the leafy trees. The Giant Leather Ferns, Eel Grass, Duck Weed and floating Water Lettuce - green - with a splash of color from the Pink Mallow, Scarlet Hibiscus and yellow blooms of the Spatterdock. The Anhingas were everywhere; diving into the water and swimming to catch fish, then up sitting on a branch as they dry their wings. The Red-bellied and yellow River Turtles are all out sunning and we got to see Pileated Woodpeckers, Wild Turkeys, Green, Tri-colored, Little and Great Blue Herons out feeding too. It was a beautiful day to be on the Wekiva River!
