Kayaking in Eustis, FL February 15, 2014

Blue skies with very little wind is what we ordered and we were lucky enough to get it ;-). Off we went paddling deep into the ancient Cypress Swamps among the old giant stumps left over from the great logging days of Florida. Once out at the lake we paddled through the Cypress that survived those days. Some so old their bases are over 12 feet wide. If they could talk I'm certain these trees would tell some serious stories of old times. They have become home to many Air Plants, Resurrection Ferns, Quill-leaf, Green Fly and Butterfly Orchids and other vegetation that is absolutely amazing to see. This is one of our favorite trees, we call it the "Hammock Tree" of Blackwater Lake.
