Blue Springs, the St Johns River and an amazing day for paddling 26-5-2015

Johno and Kim came from Australia for a tour of the Southern US and chose us for their paddling fix. We were happy to be able to show them around the St Johns River and Blue Springs. The clear waters with the giant Live Oak Trees of the springs is like no other. The epiphytec Air Plants, Spanish Moss, Resurrection Fern and Quill-leaf that live on these Oaks are the epitome of Florida. We got to see our first Scarlet Hibiscus in bloom and as we took a closer look there was a Gator resting on the shore just below. The Little Blue Heron adults and the calico teenagers were out fishing as well as the Great Blue and Green Herons, Moorhens and Limpkins. The Swallow-tailed Kites, Ospreys and Red-shouldered Hawks were flying overhead. 3 Manatees were seen just outside of Snake Creek, one feeding right next to us. Lots of wildlife, new friends, great weather and a really nice place to paddle... who could ask for more?
